2010 was a year of success for Nissan manufacturing plant in Sunderland. The manufacturing plant reached a record production of 423,262 which is approximately 1160 cars per day! Now that's massive. Obviously all the cars were not used in UK most of them which contributes to 80% was exported. These figure were given by research done by Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) rewards the benefit of the massive production to the increasing number of exports. CBI revealed the production has gone up by 32 percent. Ian McCafferty, chief economic advisor with the CBI, says that the manufacturing sector recovery is very strong at the moment and will continue to grow this way if the demand for exports are stable. He also informed that the production in this financial quarter has increased both locally and for overseas but it is still the overseas demand which is more dominant. The assistant regional director for CBI, Liz Mayes explained that recent survey from CBI reveals the rising positive signs from Nissan manufacturing plant and he is expecting to see more from the North-East manufacturing plant. He also passed the benefit to their strategic location and says they can take full advantage of its location and thus meet all the growing demand from the overseas. And Nissan is acting a tool of motivation amongst the other manufacturing units as this is the only one which is going this strong.
