SKY DOES SOME HIGH DEFINITION CHANGES

The very date of 1st of February will see leading broadcaster Sky’s EPG channel lineup going through one changes too many. The HD channels as provided by the company will be higher listed and placed as such thus. As many as forty HD channels will find themselves placed further up on the channel listings. None the less this won’t be including the key terrestrial channels. But the list of HD channels will be swapping positions with their standard definition counterparts to be placed higher thus.

This change will again be affecting Sky+ HD subscriptions. Sky+ EPG on the other hand won’t see any such change what so ever in the placement of channels in its listings. This change has been done keeping the Sky HD customer in mind as it will enable them to get better access to HD content on TV. For once, they may directly and more easily find their list of most viewed channels. A lot has been stated that this change is bound to be the biggest update to Sky channel lines as has taken place in the past ten years of the broadcasters History. Apart from this there is also the success of Sky Anytime Plus VOD service on which Sky is riding high among other things. Then there is the mega offering which will also go on air post the 1st of February. This channel has been touted as the best explosion to be taking place in the TV arena. This is even as it will be bringing forth an ensemble feature of diverse content that are bound to be a big hit with the people. This HD channel would be free for the viewing of Sky HD customers.

For the same Sky has signed exclusive deals with HBO and Lionsgate among others. Thus super hit shows like The Wire and Mad Men are but two of the names that will have the audience simply asking for more. Then there is the gritty fantasy epic, Game of Thrones. This apart the channel will also be airing Paul Abbot’s Hit and Miss. Sky Atlantic will be placed at 108 for Sky+ HD subscribers. Roy Webster, Sky’s commercial director, spoke of how this channel is going to be the best thing happening to the Sky HD customers in some time apart from Sky Anytime+ of course. The channel will be nothing short of an exhilarating experience, for the viewing 24/7. Coming back to the new and upgraded Sky Anytime+ it is bound to get big thumbs up with the Sky subscribers as an improved VOD service. Sky Anytime+ with its greater library of brilliant video content that is again updated regularly is already a hit for once.
